Troubleshooting Eodly check-ins and reports
The common problems and what causes them.
A teammate shows as silent, but they are working
Almost always an attribution gap rather than a real silence. Check three things:
- Is the repository granted? Eodly only reads repositories you selected when installing the GitHub app. Work in a repo you did not grant is invisible. Open Connect GitHub and add it.
- Is their GitHub username set, and unique? On the Team page, each person needs their own handle. A handle can only credit one person, so if two members share one, the first takes the activity and the other looks quiet.
- Is their chat account linked? If Eodly has no chat ID for someone, it cannot DM them, so they never get asked. Connecting Slack and importing the roster attaches these automatically. Otherwise link them on the Team page.
The report is empty
Usually one of:
- No source connected. Eodly needs at least one live source. With nothing connected, the report has nothing to say.
- Nobody on the roster. Check the Team page has people on it.
- Connected today, looking at older days. The backfill covers roughly the last 10 days for GitHub and Linear, not your whole history.
Click Generate now after fixing any of these instead of waiting for the evening.
The Discord bot looks offline
By design. It shows greyed out and never posts on its own. /checkin works regardless of what the member list says.
/checkin does not appear in Discord
You most likely chose "Add to My Apps" instead of Add to Server during install. Reconnect, pick Add to Server, choose the server, then refresh Discord with Ctrl+R.
A connection stopped working
If a provider's access was revoked, or a token went stale, use reconnect on the connected pill on your dashboard. That re-runs authorization and refreshes credentials in place, keeping your history.
For GitHub the button reads manage instead, because a GitHub App has no token to refresh. It takes you to the app's configuration page on GitHub, where you can add repositories or reinstall.
Nobody is getting check-in DMs
Two usual causes:
- No chat ID on the roster. See the first section above. This is the most common one.
- The bot was removed from the workspace or server. Reinstall via reconnect.
Someone should not be in the report
Open the Team page and deactivate them. History is preserved and they stop being asked and stop appearing.
Still stuck
Email hello@eodly.io or use the contact form. If it is about a specific report, tell us the workspace name and the date, and we can look at what Eodly ingested.
